30 Seconds To Mars - "Kings and Queens"

(This Is War, featuring 'Kings and Queens.')
KINGS AND QUEENS ..

“Kings and Queens,” Is a hit song from the album “This Is War,” by 30 Seconds to Mars.

The video clip was released about the same time as the song itself, and there was certainly no money spared.
Whilst the video clip itself doesn’t hold any particular story line, the clip has been said to contain a theme of “togetherness, or unity,” shown by the masses of crowds of varying nationalities running side by side.
To be honest, the first time I heard this song, was when it was set as the theme song to the trailer for children’s movie “The Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole..”
Sad huh..

In my defence, it was only a trailer and I never actually got around to seeing the movie itself… Don’t judge me?

The clip itself is set in the deserted streets of Los Angeles, a locality thought of by 30 Seconds to Mars lead singer Jared Leto.

In an interview with a gossip magazine, Leto pointed out that he was worried the film clip wouldn’t come off, as it could’ve been difficult to completely rid the streets of Los Angeles of all places, of its inhabitants.
The film clip features two main locations of Los Angeles. The first shown when the members of the band are all riding upon insanely large bicycles, at the Santa Monica Pier. The second location was where the band played upon a cliff edge in Griffith Park.

The film clip holds a sort of ‘Pied Piper,’ theme to it, and is well worth the watch.
It was this song that actually made me go out and buy the Kings and Queens album, “This Is War,” a move you should all do, if not for your love of the band, then for the fact I told you to.

The clip on YouTube has nearly 1, 850, 000 views.

…Be one of them.

Katy Perry ft. Snoop Dogg - "California Girls"

(No whipped cream blasters in sight.. ?)
CALIFORNIA GIRLS !

Okay, seriously...

Now, I know people love this song by Katy Perry and the Dee-Oh-Double-Gee, but I’m gonna’ step out on a limb here and be Johnny Raincloud.
Sure, chest mounted whipped-cream-cannons probably grabbed a couple of cheap views, but in all the film clip was… Well… Bad.
So the song was released on radio, and it hit the charts like a sack of potatoes dropped from a thirty-two storey window. People everywhere were downloading this song to the point where it even made it onto the iTunes most downloaded.

The film clip however, was not released at the same time as the song was. Now considering the quality of the film clip.. Bad move.
When I typed the song name into YouTube, I was expecting a film clip that actually referred to what the song was sung about… California?

Instead, when I hit the link, my poor eyes were transported to some mystical candy land, where rude little gummy bears flipped you off, Katy Perry opens fire with whipped cream launchers, and all whilst Snoop Dogg passes Go on a sugary Monopoly table.
And all the while, I didn’t see one single Heart Foundation tick of approval, which will probably wind up creating some sort of headline: “KATY PERRY VIDEO THE CAUSE OF OBESITY!”

Not meaning to ask too much, but where were “girls that live on the beach?” or the “driving of the Jeep” or the “place where the grass is really greener?”

Credit where credit’s due, the song topped just about every major radio show chart in the country, without a film clip to accompany it. Which I think was the way it should have stayed.
The clip on YouTube had a little over 32,000,000 views, which surprises me, unless you people really, really loved that whipped cream scene.

Song was epic in its time, film clip… Not so.

Check it out if you feel the slightest bit hungry:

Akon ft. Lil Wayne - "I'm So Paid"

Akon ft. Lil Wayne - I'm So Paid

Released 2008, the long awaited single from Akon "I'm So Paid" has been released with an accompanying video clip.

Directed by Gil Green, and shot on a ridiculously super-imposed cruise ship the film clip has well and truly had a truck load of cash thrown at it, paying for a star studded cameo list, and a scene featuring a brand new production super car.
Sounds good..

The video is opened with a shot of Akon, being delivered by helicopter to the helipad of a large cruise vessel. Again proof of the large budget the production was given.
Not to spoil the video clip for those who have yet to see it, the details of the video clip i'll leave for you to have a lookie at. The video does, however, follow the theme of a 'James-Bond-Style,' getaway.

Lil Wayne is among the cameo list, being enlisted to rap a three line verse, whilst wearing boardies, a singlet, and sipping on the same cup of coffee that he had when he rolled onto the set.
A stint that allegedly netted him upwards of a million dollars in payment.
Yeah.. So paid..

The video clip had numerous hits on YouTube, however since the introduction of "VEVO" the count has lowered, due to a re-post of the video.

Skittles' gives this a 9/10, and is a definite one to take a geeze at.

All you've got to do is copy and paste: Akon ft. Lil Wayne - I'm So Paid
Into the YouTube search bar (http://www.youtube.com/), and sit back and enjoy.

I wish I was Akon?
